Playlist: April 2007
4.08.2007
I haven't burned a CD in a good 2 years, maybe 3. But this last weekend, I decided to compile one for my drive to UCLA. By the way, I am in no way condoning the illegal downloading of music. In fact, I will be providing a link to Amazon where you can buy the music, rip it onto your hard drive, and then burn it onto a CD. With that said, here's my playlist for April 2007:
1. Akon - Don't Matter
Another hit by Akon; this one's a little slower, and less obscene. No more smacking that please. I definitely think Akon is the best new rapper / hip hop artist as of late. It seems like all of his songs are hits and get tons of radio time.
2. Gwen Stefani featuring Akon - The Sweetest Escape
Another Akon song, but minus the Akon. The only word he contributes to the song is "Konvict." Other than that, the rest is Gwen. Speaking of Gwen, I really liked the way she looked last time she was on American Idol, not that I watch that horrible show. And since pictures of girls always get blogs tons of hits, here are some pictures of Gwen Stefani:
3. Lazlo Bane - Superman
Most of you probably don't know this song, or you might, but just not what it's called. This is the intro song from the TV series Scrubs. I started watching it last quarter, and have been religiously watching 1 or 2 episodes everyday. I'm almost done with season 5!
4. Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around
5. Ne-Yo - Because Of You
Probably my favorite song as of now.
6. Ne-Yo - Sexy Love
Quite a few hits coming from Ne-Yo lately. At least 3 songs off his latest album have been hits.
7. MIMS - This Is Why I'm Hot
Did you know that MIMS stands for Music is My Savior? Yeah I did too, probably because that's what his album is titled.
8. Fat Joe featuring Lil' Wayne - Make It Rain
9. Yui - Rolling Star
I'm usually not into foreign music, especially when I can't understand the words of the song, aside from a couple of stray broken Engrish phrases; but, this Japanese pop song is really catchy. Most of you will recognize it as the opening to the newest season of the anime Bleach. Here's the music video:
10. DJ Unk - Walk It Out
11. Bow Wow featuring T-Pain - Outta My System
Bow Wow is all grown up. Remember when he used to be Lil' Bow Wow? No longer Lil'. Makes me feel kind of old. I wonder if he gets mad when people call him Lil'.
12. Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell - Wanna Love U Girl
If I could be any black person, or African-American if you want to be politically correct, I would be Pharrell. For real.
13. Robin Thicke - Lost Without U
14. Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland and Justin Timberlake - Give It to Me
Nelly Furtado has really turned her game around. Before, she was this sort of emo-ish, alternative style singer. But now she's really mixed it up with the hip hop crowd, which I think is doing her good. Now her music is much more upbeat and mainstream, surely selling a ton of records.
15. Omarion - Ice Box
16. The Federation featuring E-40 - I Wear My Stunna Glasses At Night
Hyphy music is at an all-time high. By hyphy I mean music from the Northern California, also known as "The Bay."
17. Pretty Ricky - Get U Wet
One of the most obscene songs I've heard in a while. Here are a couple of excerpts from the song that I found particularly titillating:
"I wanna put it in yo butt, baby.
I'm gonna fuck you into a coma. "
And no, I'm not a pervert.
18. R Kelly featuring T.I. and T-Pain - I'm a Flirt
I don't care if R Kelly likes to pee on people, I still think his music is pretty great.
