PS3 - Saving One Family at a Time
8.15.2008
A man who robbed a video game store at gunpoint Wednesday told the clerk he was doing it to save his family, the St. John Police Department said.
Police said the incident took place around 6:35 p.m., at an EB Games store located in the 9000 block of St. Charles Rock Road, about 14 miles from downtown St. Louis.
The suspect went into the store, picked out a video game and approached the counter to check out. He pulled out a small handgun and told the store clerk that his family was being held hostage and that he needed a Playstation 3 in order to have them released.
As he left the store, the suspect told the clerk to call the police, because his family needed help.
Police arrived shortly thereafter, but the suspect had fled the scene.

Ninja Sighting
7.01.2008
June 25, 2008
BARNEGAT, N.J.—It's the case of the nonexistent ninja. Public schools in Barnegat were locked down briefly after someone reported seeing a ninja running through the woods behind an elementary school.
Turns out the ninja was actually a camp counselor dressed in black karate garb and carrying a plastic sword.
Police tell the Asbury Park Press the man was late to a costume-themed day at a nearby middle school.
The lockdown began shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday and lasted until 9:30.

Wal-Mart's Husband Store
10.15.2007
Now Open!
A Wal-Mart store that sells husbands has just opened in Dallas, TX where a woman may go to choose a husband from among many men. Among the instructions at the entrance, is a description of how the store operates.
There are only 6 floors. It states that the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch... As you open the door to any floor you may choose any man from that floor, but if you go up a floor, you cannot go back down except to exit the building.
So, a woman goes to the Wal-Mart Husband Store to find a husband...
On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men have jobs.
The second floor sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men have jobs and love kids.
The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men have jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking.
"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going...
She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework.
"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"...
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men have jobs, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 3,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping Wal-Mart's Husband Store, please exit the building!

Aibohphobia
9.28.2007
ai·boh·pho·bi·a (ā'bəl'fō'bē-ə)
noun
An anxiety disorder characterized by extreme and irrational fear of palindromes (words that read the same forwards and backwards).
Sadly, the word aibohphobia is, in itself, a palindrome.
Person 1: Hey, what's your name?
Person 2: Bob.
Person 1: AAAAAAAAAAH! *Runs and hides behind sofa*
Bob: Wow.
Person 1: AAAAAAAAAAH! *Runs away and falls down stairs*
Person 1: I think you have aibohphobia.
Person 2: AAAAAAAAAAH! *Runs into oncoming traffic*

Skip Work, Have Sex
9.12.2007
This article was recently brought to my attention. Apparently, the Russian government is encouraging people to skip work on Wednesdays, and instead stay home to make babies in order to help boost Russia's low birth rate. Not only that, but they are giving away PRIZES, such as cars and apartments, to couples that give birth on certain days. Talk about a sweet deal. I think it's time to pack my bags and move to Russia.
The obvious solution here is to import several large Mexican families. A couple of years down the road, low birth rate will be the least of their problems. Cough, WELFARE, cough.

So Real Even The Customers Don't Know
7.26.2007
Since I'm planning to build my own poker table, I figured I'd buy a can of Scotchguard to protect the surface of the table, and I came across this. I couldn't fit the product description into the picture, so here it is:
Product Description
The Chicago Crime Commission states that a burglar spends an average of 8 minutes in the victims home. Put the odds in your favor...hide your valuables in plain sight. The diversion safes are a unique home-security product. We offer a wide variety of personal care, household products and food containers with removable tops and bottoms.
The rest is self explanatory.
See it for yourself here.

Japanese Tetris IRL
6.10.2007
There's apparently a Japanese gameshow where people play tetris with their bodies. It's hard to describe, so just watch the video. I found it hilarious. Thanks Christine for showing me the video - I'd like to be on this show as well. I think I could do all of them except for the jumping man one. That one's tough. I'd probably try just crawling through it as it came close to me.

Humping USB Dog
6.02.2007
Digital World Tokyo has come up with another classic Japanese invention: little dog figures that plug into any USB ports, and humps. Yes, it humps. And nothing else. It has no storage space or does anything even remotely useful. It just humps.
You can pick from a choice of 3 different breeds: Dalmatian, Labrador, or Beagle.
Here's a demo of a Beagle in action:
Head on over to Digital World Tokyo to buy your very own. $17.95 each, or $45.00 for the entire set.
